Breakthroughbasketball's Core Exercises

breakthroughbasketball.com 7 Core Exercises for Basketball

Core strength is one of the most important components for all athletes. An athlete with advanced core strength will be able to run faster, jump higher, be stronger and most importantly be a better athlete overall.

The link provided above comes from Joe Haefner of breakthroughbasketball.com. In this post he made on his blog he provides his viewers with several core exercises that are helpful in building an athlete's core strength. The exercises are meant to be for basketball, but they would also be beneficial for volleyball or any other sport. He includes great videos for each exercise as well, making it much easier to learn the exercises one by one.

The following exercises are the ones Mr. Haefner recommends for building core strength:

  • Plank
  • Hollow hold
  • Planks with hip extensions and abduction
  • Side plank with leg abduction
  • Half-kneeling chop
  • Half-kneeling lift

I will let you inspect each exercise on breakthroughbasketball's website, that way you can watch the videos and learn how to do each one the proper way.

I even tried all these core exercises in a workout of mine and I found all of them to be very helpful in building my core strength. Clearly, it takes more than one time of doing the exercises to build the core muscles and notice a change, but with motivation and devotion your core strength will become stronger and stronger by the day.

Breakthrough Basketball holds camps for basketball athletes every summer. You can find more information about these camps at the following: https://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/camps/

I hope you all find these exercises helpful! I would really appreciate it if you could reach back out to me after working through the exercises and let me know what you think of it.

Have a great day!
